Report From Tucson – New And Unusual Minerals

Could it be that the unusual effects of these recent weather conditions are proof that true climate change is upon us? In fact, Opal dealers here at the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show in Tucson Arizona are having to put their Opals away for fear that the extreme cold will damage them as they are up to 25% water and too fragile to be out in the freezing temperatures.  A lot of people here do not have heat or even water because of frozen pipes.  If this isn’t an indication to people that we are in the midst of great climate change, then it might be because they are not standing outside here with us at the show!!
